Davis Mountains Therapeutic Riding Center

Davis Mountains Therapeutic Riding Center (DMTRC), located in beautiful Fort Davis, Texas, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization offering Therapeutic Riding to people of all ages living with disabilities. Riding a horse has been shown to improve balance, increase muscle strength and joint mobility, overcome fear and anxiety, and enhance the person’s ability to set and achieve goals. This "whole person" approach leads to improved self-esteem, increased confidence, and enhanced decision-making skills.

DMTRC adheres to nationally accepted PATH INTERNATIONAL safety standards. Instructors undergo rigorous education and lengthy on-the-job-training to meet certification requirements. DMTRC’s Certified Instructor is also a certified EMT. Helmets and necessary safety equipment are provided for participants.

DMTRC is located in Fort Davis, Texas on three acres of grassland surrounded by  the Davis Mountains. All facilities are new and provide safe and accessible accommodations for the rider and horse. They  include  a six-stall barn with tack and feed rooms, a hay and equipment barn, wheelchair accessible mounting ramps and two riding areas—a 70 foot round pen, and a 100’ x 200’ open arena.
